An internationally unique event where you can meet the greatest names in design, furniture, and lifestyle, while getting hands-on experience with the very latest products, Maison&Objet Paris is an international industry event. The next edition will take place January 19– 23 in the north of Paris (Paris Nord – Villepinte). The January event – the first of the two held six months apart every year – will straddle business and creativity, showcasing a range of innovative products for visitors from around the world on the lookout for original designs and furnishings of every kind, from fabrics to fragrances, children’s products, and tableware.
An exposé of the best and latest trends and innovations, Maison&Objet Paris is a key event for all leading French and international home design brands. The upcoming show is themed Take Care!, with this the common thread running through the entire event, which includes a program of conferences and lounges in key areas around the exhibition complex. The event will place a spotlight on the key issues today for tomorrow, such as protecting the environment and taking care of the planet.
Besides these general reasons for participating, there are also three specific reasons not to miss the event. In other words, its three themed areas. The first is Maison, dedicated to the home and interior design. The second is Objet, more focused on products and complete with a concept store aimed at retailers. The third is Influences, which features the most noteworthy market trends in an original display format created to trigger communication and the discovery of new products.
Featuring companies that work exclusively with recycled materials through to sustainable brands that create soft, warm garments using zero-kilometer products, Maison&Objet Paris presents a mixture of the latest products and business opportunities. The event is particularly tailored to emerging artists and designers, as highlighted by Vincent Grégoire, creative director of NellyRodi design:
«When we’re deciding on our themes, taking a close look at modern society is always our starting point. The moment we step outside nowadays, we’re bombarded by cultural, environmental, and identity issues. Society is craving new models, and that’s something that brands can deliver, providing solutions that target the environment and encourage us all to care for others and focus on our own wellbeing. What we’re interested in is giving a voice to those who are taking up this challenge, especially the under 25s, the so-called Generation Z, with an awareness of ethical consumption.»
Today’s brands and designers go beyond the aesthetic value of their creations, using their ideas to invite us to not only care for the environment, but also for our body and spiritual wellbeing. Since the pandemic, these have become fundamental values that we can no longer ignore.
The event therefore encourages visitors to take their time and clear their minds in spaces such as the "What’s New?" trend zone, curated by Elisabeth Leriche. Subtitled "In the Air", the space is an invitation to embrace relaxation and lightheartedness. There’s also an area curated by François Delclaux, who’ll be encouraging us to participate in the "Slow Hospitality" project, taking us on a journey that will help us slow down and observe things at a different, slower pace.
In booth I162, hall 7, of Maison&Objet 2023, you’ll find the product offerings of Iris Ceramica Group, including the Bottega d’Arte collection; Ceramica 4D, interior design products by SapienStone; the high-end bathroom furniture of the Seventyonepercent range; smart Hypertouch surfaces; and the latest in the large natural surfaces of the Ariostea, Fiandre, and FMG collections. All these unique products combine natural materials with high aesthetic appeal and technical performance.
Marazzi will be taking part in Maison&Objet In the City 2023, an event held in conjunction with the exhibition in showrooms around Paris. The company will be featuring its most important new products in its showroom at 63 Boulevard Saint-Germain, including new furniture designs made with The Top slabs and the small super-glossy Crogiolo Lume tiles. There’ll also be the hyper-decorated wall tiles from the Momenti and White Deco collections, as well as new wood-, stone-, and concrete-effect ceramics developed by Marazzi Premium Technologies.
At the My Design showroom in Quai de la Gare, Porro will showcase the subtle nuances of its iconic Materic Ovale table, designed by Piero Lissoni. Distinguished by its minimal design, the table comprises an oval top and a truncated cone-shaped base. A single-material version is available entirely in solid ash, while a version with a metal base is also sold.
Returning to the Paris Nord Villepint Exhibition Centre, Ethimo will be in booth M84/O83, hall 6,with this year’s new outdoor furniture collections, all designs infused with that Mediterranean soul that distinguishes the brand: Baia and Costiera, both designed by Christophe Pillet; Bold; Cross, designed by Patrick Norguet; Bulbi; Venexia, designed by Luca Nichetto; Nodi, designed by Paola Navone; and Woody, designed by Marc Sadler.
l'Opificio’s range of Italian-made fabrics and velvets will be on display in booth E40, hall 7. This huge range of textile collections are characterized by seductive colors, unique decorations, and quality yarns. The most exciting new products include Montagna Magica, designed by Elisa Seitzinger; and Viceversa and Viceversa Monet, both designed by Barbara Bertoldo.
Ukrainian designers will be given free rein in "The Art of Resilience" section. Maison&Objet has set itself the goal of showcasing how talented young designers affected by war survive are still thriving, creating, producing, and even launching new collections. This is the event’s tribute to the courage and spirit of freedom of this generation, which, despite the worst odds, is helping write the history of design.
Raphael Navot, the multidisciplinary Israeli-born, Parisian-based interior designer, has won the Designer of the Year award at January 2023’s Maison&Objet. The honor, conferred at each edition of the exhibition, recognizes the work of professionals that demonstrates unique talent and skill at an international level.
Navot will be exhibiting "The Apothem Lounge", an installation designed to “portray a visual emotion” through an open structure that captivates viewers with its lights and textures. With his experience as a craftsman, interior architect, and industrial designer who always keeps a close eye on the dialogue between craftsmanship and nature, the designer is no stranger to this type of installation.
He worked with David Lynch on the creation of the Parisian nightclub Silencio in 2011, inspired by the club in Lynch’s film Mulholland Drive. He collaborated with Oscar Ono to produce a hi-tech wooden flooring range, and created a furniture collection of 12 pieces, comprising sofas, tables, rugs, and lamps, for Roche Bobois. Navot is best known, however, for his work at the Hôtel National des Arts et Métiers in Paris, and his close links with the Loro Piana furniture line, featured at last year’s Salone del Mobile furniture exhibition in Milan. Navot’s latest project is "On the Same Subject", his first solo exhibition, to take place at the Friedman Benda gallery in New York. The culmination of a four-year collaboration with the gallery, the exhibition presents a timeline of Navot’s evolution as a designer.
