Cascina Merlata, a residential complex in Milan designed by international architecture and design studio Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel (ACPV), is poised to transform MIND, the Milano Innovation District. The completion date is set for March 2021.
Cascina Merlata is part of the masterplan conceived by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel (ACPV) in 2011. It sets out to support the creation of a new urban hub for Milan by offering numerous services to the local inhabitants.
Antonio Citterio, co-founder of ACPV, says:
“With this project, we wanted to promote a sense of community and belonging to place. The masterplan and architectural guidelines for Cascina Merlata play a crucial role in ensuring that new residents have access to all the services they need.”
The new project comprises two residential buildings with a total area of 135,600 square feet (12,600 m2). The design phase employed BIM technology, which meant a time reduction in both the development and executive phases.
Lorenzo Laura, architect and project manager at ACPV, says:
“The completion of Cascina Merlata marks an important step in our long collaboration with our client Città Contemporanea. Almost like a city within a city, the residential complex provides access to apartments at more affordable prices in an area of Milan that’s undergoing major change.”
