The Ten Houses selected for this volume describe Carlo Donati Studio’s approach to designing residential architecture over the past 20 years. Ten high-end homes – villas, lofts and penthouses – showcase a precise way of working that is translated into a refined visual abacus. This variety of works in their uniqueness, even though with coherent compositional traits and distinctive features, convey a state of visual equilibrium characterized by a discrete and sophisticated luxury.
In the first part of the book we present 10 houses designed in the last 20 years, in reverse chronological order, houses with a strong identity and representative of our creative path. The second part collects some ideas from other projects of the Studio, ideas that tell the metamorphosis of space through the representative themes of our work: the project of light, color, materials, transparencies

Carlo Donati

Graduated in architecture at the Milan Politecnico in 1992, after collaborating with the Belgiojoso BBPR studio and the Gregotti Associati International studio, in 1996 he founded Farnese Contract in Milan. Since 1999 the Studio has mainly focused on the design of exclusive villas and homes, shops and resorts in Italy and around the world. After managing as architecture consultant for the brands: Gianni Versace in New York, Aldo Coppola, Colefax & Fowler, Linea Più, the Studio is currently in charge of the artistic direction of the Slowear group for which it has created showrooms and shops in Paris, London, New York, Tokyo and all over the world. In 2008 he won the competition for the construction of the masterplan of Segrate, Milan. He is currently also involved in the field of furniture design with independent furniture lines and for the brands Essential Home and Delightfull. The Studio has been invited to hold lectures at the Faculty of Architecture of the Milan Politecnico and holds professional courses for architects on eLearning platforms. The Studio’s works, subjects of interest for the international press, are published in the most influential magazines in the sector and in numerous volumes both in Italy and abroad.
