Cibic & Partners have designed the new headquarters for property developers Dalla Verde s.r.l. in the town of Montecchio Maggiore, near Vicenza. The brief was to provide a multi-purpose building of around 1000 square metres whose striking visual impact would make it a local landmark in an area already noted for its Romeo-and-Juliet type castles. The singular, trapeze-shaped building comprises two volumes of contrasting height and structure.
The first, a pale brick-red tower on Via Veneto housing the company offices, is punctuated by windows of different size arranged, however, to create a harmonious whole. The tubular roof structure is covered with teflon. At night when illuminated from inside, the tall building resembles a great lantern. Inside, next to the offices, is an ample area for exhibitions. The metal frame staircase leading to the reception desk on the first floor has brushed oak steps and glass railings. From the landing, a distribution corridor leads off to offices, waiting and two meeting rooms.
The second volume, clad in 2-colour stone-like Lecabloc, is a long low building in deliberate contrast to its twin and following a much more regular geometry. The ground floor is laid out for stores and offices while the first floor is given over to Dall Verde technical offices. The second floor is entirely residential.
