The Maistra Collection brand’s Grand Park Hotel is located in the Monte Mulini area of Rovinj, a seaside town on the Croatian coast famed for its top-class sea and beaches. Designed by Croatian Studio 3LHD, the hotel overlooks the island of St. Catherine and its sloping green terraces, in an architectural design tailored to the green pine forest in which it is immersed.
Lissoni Casal Ribeiro, a division of Lissoni & Partners, was responsible for the interior design of all bedrooms, common areas and the outdoor public areas that lead along the promenade to the old town center. The hotel’s six levels host two receptions, 193 rooms and
16 suites, two restaurants, a pool bar, a 3,800 sq. m spa, a lobby bar, three swimming pools (two outdoor, one indoor) and a conference area.
Inspired by natural stone and wood, the design’s dominant colors were customized for each type of environment. The
large-sized lobby features chromatic contrasts of black and white as it overlooks the surrounding landscape through large panes, allowing guests to enjoy the views from inside the hotel. The bedrooms’ sobriety is evoked through soft colors, contrasting here and there with dark elements that create a hallmark feel. The indoor pool continues in this style, contrasting a dark ceiling with the transparency of water and the clarity of a stone floor. These contrasts are at their greatest in the bar area, where white stone and lighting seemingly detach the wall behind the counter from the rest of the room to create a refined, essential atmosphere.
Elegance and attention to architectural detail are clear to see in the collaboration between Lissoni Graphx and designer Carlos Baker, who developed a collection of uniforms for the hotel’s staff.
Works of art were commissioned from seven artists for the common areas and bedrooms, in perfect harmony with the interiors and furnishings, further showcasing a desire to tailor-make every aspect of the aesthetic experience. The artists’ brief was to create works strongly associated with the Rovinj area that draw on their own, personal experience.
