Tajfun is a company with a long-standing tradition in production of logging winches, firewood processor, hydraulic tractor and suspension cranes; persistently creating its own identity through quality products and has importaint social and economical role for the local enviroment.
Investor is planning to expland its company with new state-of-the-art industrial facilities near Postojna, Slovenia. The plot is located at the intersection of mayor highway and train connections – linking it to home and forein markets.
The proposed solution is derived from the premise that architecture is not merely a functional facility, but rather part of the company’s identity. The project redefines what modern production facility should look like - the project marks a break from the prevailing model of the factory as a megastructure. The program is deconstructed and regrouped into a village of small and unique buildings. The buildings are flexible and responsive to the boundary conditions: the street, the place, the boundaries of the plot, the forest enclaves,.. The aim of the proposed solution is to establish a new identity of the dilapatated industrial area.
New factory masterplan was designed in line with company vision and techological process in mind. The visionary quality of the company is expressed in the new spatial concept - completed morphological unit of the village with buildings, streets, public spaces and green areas. Proposal creates a spatial vision for the new manufacturing facility, which can be implemented in phases and is made up of 10 functionally independent but interconected buildings, public and green spaces and road network. Urbanistic layout is based od techniological processes and interconectiviti between different functional units. Focal point of the project is “main square” of the village – manipulation area with branding represents the hearth of the project – the Ring. New facilities includes business premises, a development plant, a production facility, a parking house, a testing facility and a mechanical processing and welding plant.
Buildings have a strong reinforced concrete base, hi bond deck slabs and steel frame construction. Building envelope is claded with lightweight aluminium composite panels. Fixed glazing together with aluminium panneling give the façade a distingusable look and rithm. Size and position of the openings was carefuly planned to insure a lot of natural sunlight and avoid overheating. The whole image of buildings with pointed roof tips, together with the metal-glass envelope of the buildings, recreates the image of the "ice" mountains and creates an experience of the Alpine world. The diffusely reflex surface of the façade reflects the image of the surroundings on its surface, and in this way subtly integrates into the space.
The project creates an experience based on the identity of the client and the space where we experience the village and the mountains. It is experience we can feel it or we simply enjoy and work in it.
