PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The aim of the project is to encourage the function of Busan Station Square as the transportation hub with convenient connections to various public transports including new direct link to the subway, and to transform the urban fabric of the area with spaces for arts and culture for the people of Busan and visitors. Additional aim of the project is to revitalize the original downtown area with vibrant commercial, education, recreation, and leisure activities. | CONCEPT IDEA: The design of Arts and Culture Square Busan imagines a new type of urban space. A place where gently sloped green hills and vast open space invite people to rest and play. A place where a floating park provides protection from the harsh sun on a hot summer’s day and pouring rain on a cold winter’s night. A Place where underneath the floating park’s greenery and soft light hosts a place for nourishment, learning and communication. The new type of urban space for all. | FLOATING PARK: The design of Arts and Culture Square Busan proposes a landscaped roof over the urban square. With its gently sloped green hills and ‘Urban Kiosks’ of various sizes and designs imbued into the landscape, the Floating Park is designed to serve as a place of leisure for the people of Busan and visitors alike. | URBAN SQUARE: Below the Floating Park is the Busan Arts and Culture Square; a new type of urban space where underneath the park’s greenery and soft light hosts a place for the Arts and Culture events. | URBAN KIOSKS:
Temporal venue for various events, the ‘Urban Kiosk’ consist free-standing glass and metal panels of varying enclosures and volumes designed to serve a temporal event; the ‘Urban Kiosk’ would be assembled as needed then disassembled and stored. .
