Marble Cladding for a Contemporary Upgrade

Arassociati

Habitaria
By Redazione The Plan -

Created by Arassociati, the design for Habitaria - Corso Garibaldi 95, in the trendy Milanese district of Brera, is a fusion of tradition and innovation. The project involved upgrading two historical buildings that still include features from the original Sant’Anna dei Teatini convent and adding a new structure in one of the two courtyards in the complex.

The chosen architectural language makes heavy use of Margraf marble, with different selections used to clad the historic façade, the new tower block, the courtyards, stairs and much of the external flooring.

Lipica Fiorito marble with a non-slip,
bush-hammered finish was chosen for the first courtyard, with its large, full-height glazed loggias and balconies on the upper floors.

The new tower, flanking the existing buildings, rises in the second courtyard with an emphatically contemporary style signaled
by continuous balconies on all floors.

The sections of the façade that are not glazed are clad in Veselye honed
marble-resin (1,655 sq. m in total).

For the historical building, the ground floor of the main elevation, the one looking onto Corso Garibaldi, was clad with Lipica Fiorito marble with a bush-hammered finish.

Inside, for the floors and stairs in the communal areas, 2,222 sq. m of honed
Lipica Fiorito marble was used along with
220 sq. m of honed Jolie Grey, while the external walkways required 450 sq. m of Pietra di Luserna with a cleft finish and
200 sq. m of Pietra di Luserna cubes.

Finally, honed Lipica Fiorito was used for the four solid columns and a shaped cornice.
