De-Materialized Transitions
By Redazione The Plan -

Designed to provide an exclusive living experience in a pristine environment, the Patina Maldives Residence has a series of walkways and elegant villas that blend into the dense local vegetation. Located in the Fari Islands, one of the most exclusive archipelagos in the Maldives, the resort extends over 34,500 sq. m and provides its guests both with spaces to relax in solitude as well as communal areas where they can enjoy the company of others.
Using wood, rattan and textures reminiscent of stone, Studio MK27 designed a mix of suites and private villas, located inland and right on the water, whose volumes blend easily into the landscape, becoming a part of it. The close connection to this tropical environment is reinforced by the essential and functional esthetics of the doors and windows from panoramah!, which provided a set of 38 full-height sliding glass walls for the project. These glass walls, with painted aluminum profiles, use a two- or three-track system so that three sides of each unit can be fully opened by simply pressing a button. By dematerializing the transition between the welcoming interiors of the units and the surrounding vegetation or the sea, each building flows into nature through large windows that can be shielded from the sun’s rays if necessary.
As the goal was not only to provide guests with their own space, but also to give them the opportunity to enjoy some more social time, the resort has a number of communal buildings, including a spa, connected by pathways. For its vision of a retreat and resort that is both refined and wild, Studio MK27 chose panoramah! solutions to create structures in strict continuity with the landscape, where guests and nature are truly at the center of the experience.
