TIANJIN TIANHUA NORTHERN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

Construction Measures and Shape Optimization: During the design of the project, the designer has explored the systematic free-curve surface design methods, which aims to ensure the facade effect while controlling the use quantity of irregular-shaped glass, balance the aesthetic characteristics of the building and the complexity of the project, so as to achieve a final achievement of design concept and construction details. The designer integrates ingenious thinking into the podiums, towers and the partial irregular-shaped mass of the building: (1) Podiums: To Splice the Surface Modeling With Plane Module The soothing curve of the podiums give the building flexibility and dynamism. It is completely composed of plane module units, which reduces the construction difficulty while ensuring the same visual effect. The profile was divided into an even number of polylines according to the column grid, so that the area of each glass required for facade modeling is limited to less than 4 m2, ensuring the smoothness of splicing while controlling the cost. The air conditioner stand is set in combination with the store signboards and grilles, which maintains the integrity and purity of the facade, while avoids its restrictions on the flexible division of the stores. (2) Towers: To Establish Exquisite Facade With Modular Design The architectural volume of the tower is in four-leaf clover shape, with each “leaf” totally the same. The inner facade module of the blade is set according to the axis network. After comparison and selection, the designer adopt the 1800mm width module to achieve the best outcome of tall and straight facade form and transparent indoor visibility. The designer selects 4500mm radius curved glass at the corner and adopts a structure without frame column to jointly create an open corner space and provide an indoor viewing platform. The window frame of the tower curtain wall is overt vertically and covert horizontally. The horizontal covert frame and many other building components are set in combination with the shadow box, which can not only meet the aesthetic needs of the architectural appearance, but also improve the comfort of the indoor physical environment. The vertical members emphasize the sense of straightness, and use the curve details to improve the architectural delicacy. The vertical width is 350mm, which can accommodate the opening fan. The curve groove is made of perforated aluminum plate, which can meet the ventilation needs of the building on the premise of maintaining the integrity and unity of the facade. (3) Irregular-shaped Mass: To Simplify Irregular-shaped Technology With Unit Processing The project design has three iconic curved canopies, with a maximum overhang of nearly six meters. Among the modeling planes of the three canopies, the facade curve trend of the ends of the canopies is totally different. The designer uses the two-dimensional expansion method to make the three canopy volumes tangent to the surrounding curve under the same condition to form a standard storefront signboard unit. Similarly, the symmetrical design is used for the internal modeling of the unit, which greatly improves the reuse rate of irregular-shaped components. In order to avoid the impact of tie rod or support column on the facade, the storefront signboard unit adopts the strengthening and supporting partial steel structure, and uses the outer wrapped aluminum plate to gradually thin the canopy edge, so as to realize the flexible visual effect. The designer extend the arc-shaped steel members indoors to meet the structural requirements and create a space experience of an integrated indoor and outdoor first floor. The 1800mm radius curved glass is used at the longitudinal division groove of the tower facade, and the multi-curved glass is used in the end. The designer adopts the same unit processing design, with eight same shape and self-symmetrical grooves. The division of multi-curved glass has a relationship with the covert frame of the connected curtain wall, which makes the facade naturally transit and construction stage easy to install. The lively and clever design of the project shows the perfect combination of art and technology. The designer seeks a balance between the landing effect and the construction cost, reasonably optimizes the curtain wall, and finally perfectly presents the design concept of “the dance of the city and the rhythm of the future”.
